Our first Pokémon drop is coming right up! The drop happens on Polygon, an affordable, fast layer 2 solution running alongside the Ethereum blockchain. We have a few things to cover so you are ready to purchase your mystery pack.
In order to purchase Polygon NFTs, you must have the native Polygon token, called MATIC, to cover gas fees, and Polygon Wrapped Eth in your wallet. Below we will lay out the steps for desktop and mobile users.
Steps for desktop users:
Set-Up
- Make sure you have installed MetaMask — a Polygon-compatible wallet, here: metamask.io. Make sure you save your secret recovery phrase and keep it private.
- Once MetaMask is installed on your browser, you are ready to purchase crypto by clicking “Buy” from the home screen of your wallet. You may purchase ETH with Apple Pay (the US only), a credit card, or a bank transfer.
Add the Polygon Network
- Once you have some ETH, again make sure you are connected to Ethereum Mainnet in your MetaMask wallet.
2. Now you need to add the Polygon network to your wallet. You can do this by visiting their website, polygon.technology.
3. Once there, hover over the dApps tab, and select “Add Polygon PoS Network to MetaMask”
4. Now you can open your MetaMask wallet from your browser and you will be connected to the Polygon Network, with a balance of 0 MATIC.
5. Switch back to the Ethereum Mainnet from your MetaMask wallet by clicking the dropdown.
Bridge
- Head over to https://wallet.polygon.technology/bridge/ and connect your MetaMask wallet by clicking the “Connect to a Wallet” button.
2. Once connected, click on the Polygon Bridge widget.
3. Now you are ready to bridge ETH to Polygon. Choose the amount of Ether you would like to transfer to Polygon, and then click “transfer”. We recommend $10 for gas and .25 ETH to cover each NFT you wish to purchase for our drop. If you intend to purchase more than one NFT, please be sure you have .25 ETH x the amount of NFTs you wish to purchase. For example, I want to purchase 3 Pokémon Mystery Packs so I should bridge over .75 ETH and enough to cover the gas fee in MATIC.
4. Your MetaMask wallet will ask you to approve the transaction. Click “Confirm”. You will see a confirmation that the transaction is in progress. It will take 7–10 minutes before the funds are released to you on Polygon. You can check the transaction status on Etherscan to verify that your deposit went through.
Get MATIC
- Connect to the Polygon Network in MetaMask.
2. Go to ​​https://wallet.polygon.technology/gas-swap/ and make sure your wallet is connected to the site, just like we did in the previous steps.
3. Swap some of your ETH for MATIC. One MATIC will cover your gas fees for the RareMint Pokémon drop.
4. Click Approve, and wait for the transaction to be completed. This should only take a few seconds.
5. Now you have both ETH and MATIC in your wallet, and you’re ready for the drop!
Steps for mobile users:
Set-Up
- Make sure you have installed the MetaMask app from Google Play or App Store.
- Click on the “Get Started” button
- Select “Create a Wallet” and create a password.
- Write down, memorize, and store your Secret Recovery Phrase.
- Confirm your Secret Recovery Phrase
- Head to your wallet home page and click “Buy”
7. You may purchase ETH with Apple Pay (US only), a credit card, or a bank transfer. MetaMask Mobile uses Transak to convert fiat currency into ETH, so you might have different restrictions depending on where you live.
Add the Polygon Network
- Once you have ETH in your wallet, open the hamburger menu in the top left of the wallet home screen. Tap “Settings” from the list.

4. Approve the transaction
Bridge
- Head back to your MetaMask wallet home screen and open the menu. Here you will see an option to open your browser.

3. Now you are ready to bridge ETH to Polygon. Choose the amount of Ether you would like to transfer to Polygon, and then click “transfer”. Get MATIC
- Go back to your wallet home from the side panel in MetaMask and make sure you are connected to Polygon Mainnet.

3. Swap some of your ETH for MATIC. One MATIC will cover your gas fees for the RareMint Pokémon drop.
